I am so impressed to have come from Military and sentimental lineage. My grandfather was a skilled laborer who honored my father by sending him off to war with a fascinating timepiece. My father was fortunate enough to go off to World War 2 with a Prince. The case is two pieces with solid gold scroll lugs. The case is Stainless Steel and measured 45mm from lug to lug. It had awesome dial with Eaton ¼ Century Club and Rolex chronometer six position movement caliber 310, 18 jewels and apparently t came in the sweetest box ever. The sad part is that my father never came home and the watch wasn’t recovered. My mother told this story especially on holidays and with such a wide smile! I imagine the reason my mother kept this story so alive during my pre -Army admission was to help encourage the tradition of patriotism or to keep my Pop alive for her sake as well but I cannot be certain. What I do know is that My grandmother seemed uneasy during this story. All I knew was that I needed to find one of these pieces before Gram left us. Circa Princes were priced at five to ten thousand bucks and weren’t guaranteed to work and would require maintenances that would be costly and difficult to find. I researched and what I did find is that though there was no replacing “Pops�? Prince I could certainly buy a modern Prince that I would soon find would bring a tear to grams eye. This piece that I found is a
member of the Cellini line powered by a Swiss chronometer movement that is rectangular shaped to match the case design. It has the traditional subseconds dial. Now that I am a father, I too can pass on my Prince to my little prince when he joins the Army. The best part is that this Damned thing ran so smooth and was so beautiful ! I wore it to our next holiday dinner and my grandmother teared. Both she and my mother were so impressed and proud. Even my brother decided to buy one. That was the beginning of a revived tradition in the Jost family and we all love our Prince!
